《周易》第十六卦豫的卦象是上震下坤。

上卦震为雷，引申为鼓声；下卦坤为均yùn，为音律：故卦名曰“豫”。豫在本卦当指类似礼炮声的庄重的礼乐）。

上卦震为侯，下卦坤为师、为顺，故卦辞言“利建侯行师”。

下卦坤为均，故初六言“鸣豫”。坤为师，震为出，合之有征伐之义，征伐为凶险之事，故言“凶”。

下互卦艮为小石，下卦坤为容，故六二言“介于石”。下卦坤为黑，引申为黑夜；下互卦艮为止：止于夜，故言“不终日”。坤又为顺，故言“贞吉”。

上卦震为鼓声，上互卦坎为耳，合之有支起耳朵听鼓乐之义，故六三言“盱豫”。上互卦坎为忧，故言“悔”。坎又为奔流不止的河流，故言“迟有悔”。

上互卦坎为顺水道流动之水，故九四言“由豫”。上卦震为蕃鲜，故言“大有得”（得大有）。震又为躁，故言“勿疑”。震为蕃鲜，可引申为发；坎为坚多心木，可引申为簪；下互卦艮为手：合之为簪发之象，故言“朋盍簪”。

上卦震为反生稼（发芽新生的庄稼种子），故六五言“贞吉，恒，不死”。

上互卦坎为隐，上卦震为礼乐，故言“冥豫”。震又为旉，可引申为成（封赏）；上互卦坎为流动：故言“成有渝”。
